"Elegance, good taste and luxury never go out of style," says Kenneth Jay Lane, the man who single-handedly made costume jewelry cool.

Michigan-born Lane graduated from the Rhode Island School of Designs and moved to New York for a stint as a Vogue Art Director. This whet his appetite for Fashion and made him realize that he wanted to design. Shoes were his starting point-he worked on collections for Delman and Dior and whilst working for Dior he began to embellish shoes with rhinestones and play around with ideas for jewelry.

In a word, Kenneth Jay Lane's jewelry is elegance. Each piece is innovative and imaginative, and they consistently prove that costume jewelry can be as beautiful as the 'real thing'. Kenneth Jay Lane's impressive collections have caught the eye of classic beauties such as Jackie Onassis, Audrey Hepburn, Sarah Jessica Parker and Nicole Kidman, but celebrities and socialites aren't Kenneth's primary focus. The designer's creations are inspired with everyday woman in mind.

Today the name Kenneth Jay lane has become the byword for glamour.

His pieces are now as sought-after and collectible as precious gems with vintage pieces selling at Christies and Sotheby's.
